Surf fishing is my favourite form of fishing.The challenge of matching , fishing reels and fishing tackle to the target fish is exhilerating. There is nothing quite like seeing the sun rise over the ocean or the last rays of sunlight slowly receding across the horizon. I love the solitude and the ability to commune with nature. The excitement at that first twinge of the fishing rod tip. The exhilaration as I pit my skills and my fishing tackle against a seasoned adversary, strong and as yet unseen.

Surf fishing is the catching of fish standing on the beach or wading into the surf, surf fishing may or may not include casting a lure or bait, and refers to all types of shore fishing - from beaches and rocky outcrops, ledges, breakwaters and fishing piers. Surf fishing in this context refers to fishing saltwater shorelines.

Surfcasting is a casting method which separates the surfcaster from other fishermen. Specialized surf fishing, two-handed casting techniques are used to cast the lure or bait the added distances required in many cases to reach feeding inshore fish.

In these casts the entire body, rather than just the arms, ;are utilized to deliver the cast. In addition to standard two-handed casts, surfcasters may also resort to the uni-cast or the pendulum cast to achieve added distance - in some cases exceeding 200 yards.

Other Forms of Surf Fishing include kite fishing, balloon fishing, Kontiki fishing, and surf fishing using hand held nets to name but few of the many surf fishing methods used around the world.
